How do you know when your portfolio is diversified?
Jason Noble discussed portfolio diversification on this recent segment of ABC News 4-Lowcountry Live. Jason said that one way to understand diversification is to examine the type of investments that you have in your portfolio. For instance, stocks versus bonds. You can also look at each industry sector to make sure you are properly allocated there—for instance, that you have some investments in the tech sector, energy sector, and the nine others.
Jason also made the point that another important thing to look for when it comes to your portfolio is the amount of risk it contains. A good financial advisor will consider your age, your risk profile, and your risk capacity—which is predicated upon your situation and your stage of life. Make sure you work with a fiduciary who has your best interests in mind when they design your portfolio.
